Saint John Neumann Catholic Church and our Knights
of Columbus Council sponsor four Blood Drives a year in the Parish Social
Hall. Signup sheets will be posted in the narthex (church foyer) about
a month prior to each drive. If you meet the
Donor Requirements,
please consider donating to the Blood Drive. The procedure takes about
30 minutes.
A driver's license or other photo ID is required.
A Social Security number is also needed although a Social Security card is
not required. Be sure to
eat a hearty meal at least 4 to 6 hours before arriving.
The blood from these drives is donated to the
Central Texas
Regional Blood and Tissue
Center for the benefit of any member of our parish. One coupon is issued
for each pint (unit) of blood donated and are good for six months following
the date of the donation. These coupons are available to any member
of the parish, their spouse or tax dependents who have used blood products
from an affiliated AABB hospital that have not been covered by insurance or
other third party. The coupon expiration date applies to the date when
the patient's cost was incurred, not when the reimbursement is being made.
For example, coupons received from a January blood drive will expire in July
and can be used for blood products received in July, even if the reimbursement
is submitted well after July, since the final billing and insurance settlements
may take months to complete. Judy Gesch in the Parish Social Ministry
office (328-3220) manages these coupons and verifies eligibility.
Donations can also be made at the Central Texas Regional Blood and Tissue
Center at 4300 North Lamar Blvd. Donation coupons received can be forwarded
to the Saint John Neumann Parish Social Ministry office through the Sunday
collection.
Please take this opportunity to give the gift of life to a fellow member of
our parish community. If you have any questions, please call the Blood
Center at 206-1266, check their
website
or contact our Blood Drive coordinator,
Ralph Wickenberg.
